Perspective Services recently acquired PhotoModeler Scanner software which allows the capture of point clouds and meshes from stereo photography of textured surfaces. Such data is very useful for modeling irregular objects . Output is available as text files, DXF, Rhino, IGES, Maya and several other formats.
Rock faces, quarries and earth embankments can be scanned to produce a point cloud, mesh surface or contour file, depending on your requirements.
Small objects such as busts and statues can be modeled with Scanner.
Old stone buildings and monuments can also be captured. The image below shows a raw point cloud of part of Spofforth Castle in North Yorkshire.
